4Purposes for which we use personal data
Depending on the context and applicable law, ISAB may process personal data to:
- respond to enquiries and provide information about programmes, eligibility, admissions, campus visits, scholarships and events;
- process and evaluate applications, verify submitted information, communicate decisions and administer enrolment-related steps;
- provide requested institutional services and manage events, visits, workshops and other activities;
- send service-related messages, application updates, important notices, event information and responses to requests;
- send promotional or marketing communications about programmes and events where permitted and, where required, after obtaining consent;
- process and reconcile payments through authorised payment channels and maintain accounting or audit records;
- operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot and improve the Website and institutional services;
- prevent fraud, impersonation, misuse, security incidents and unauthorised access, including addressing reports of fake admission agents;
- meet legal, regulatory, contractual, record-keeping and legitimate institutional obligations; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims and handle complaints or disputes.
5Legal grounds, notice and consent
ISAB will identify and rely on the applicable legal basis for each processing activity under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and rules/provisions as and when applicable, and any other applicable laws. Where consent is required, it will be specific, informed, clear, affirmative and capable of being withdrawn. Where another lawful basis applies, ISAB will provide the required notice and process the data only within the permitted scope.
Submitting an enquiry does not automatically mean that you must agree to receive unrelated promotional messages. Where feasible, ISAB separates essential enquiry/application communications from optional marketing consent. Withdrawal of marketing consent does not affect processing that is otherwise lawful or necessary to handle an application or provide a requested service.
6Marketing and communications
We may contact you about the enquiry, application, event or service you requested. Promotional communications by email, telephone, SMS or WhatsApp will be sent only as permitted by applicable law and any consent or preference requirements that apply. You can opt out of promotional messages by using the unsubscribe mechanism provided, replying with an available opt-out instruction, or contacting director@isab.org.in. We may still send non-promotional messages necessary to respond to you, administer an application or meet legal obligations.
7Cookies, analytics and similar technologies
The Website may use essential cookies or similar technologies to operate securely and remember basic preferences. Where analytics, advertising, social-media or other non-essential tracking tools are enabled, ISAB will disclose the relevant tools and purposes and provide consent/choice controls where required by law. Cookie settings in your browser may also allow you to block or delete cookies, although some Website functions may not work as intended.
8When we share personal data
ISAB does not sell personal data. We may disclose relevant information, on a need-to-know basis and subject to appropriate safeguards, to:
- ISAB's authorised employees, faculty, admissions staff, administrators and professional advisers who need the information for their duties;
- technology, hosting, CRM, email/SMS/WhatsApp, form, analytics, admissions, event-management and customer-support service providers engaged to support our operations;
- payment gateways, banks or payment service providers to complete and reconcile transactions;
- academic or institutional partners, recruiters, employers, event collaborators or other parties where this is necessary for a stated service, permitted by law, and appropriately disclosed;
- government authorities, regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or other persons where disclosure is required or authorised by law; and
- other parties with your consent or at your direction.
9International processing
Some service providers may process or store data outside India. Where this occurs, ISAB will assess and comply with applicable Indian legal requirements and any restrictions or conditions applicable to cross-border transfers.
10Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries, processing applications, maintaining academic and financial records, meeting legal requirements, resolving disputes and protecting institutional interests. Retention periods may differ by data category. When data is no longer required, ISAB will delete it, anonymise it or securely dispose of it, subject to lawful retention obligations and applicable technical limitations.
11Data security
ISAB will use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data and risks, which may include access controls, authentication, restricted permissions, secure transmission, backups, staff awareness and vendor safeguards. No website, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. ISAB maintains a process to assess suspected breaches, limit harm and make notifications required by applicable law.
12Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to obtain information about processing, request correction or updating of inaccurate data, request erasure where permitted, withdraw consent, raise a grievance, and nominate another person where the law provides for it. These rights may be subject to identity verification, legal exceptions and record-retention requirements.
To submit a request, contact director@isab.org.in. Please state the nature of your request and provide enough information for ISAB to identify the relevant record. ISAB will verify the request and respond within the timelines required by applicable law.
13Children and individuals under 18
ISAB's programmes and services may be intended for adults, but some events or enquiries may involve individuals under 18. ISAB will handle children's personal data in accordance with applicable law, including any required verifiable parental or guardian consent and restrictions on tracking, targeted advertising or other processing where applicable. Do not submit a child's personal data unless you are authorised to do so.
14Third-party websites and embedded services
The Website may link to third-party websites, social-media platforms, payment pages, application systems or embedded content. Those services operate under their own privacy policies and terms. ISAB is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third parties; review their notices before providing information to them. This does not limit any responsibility ISAB has under applicable law.
